Thanks to Professor Ungar of Upenn for pointing out an inaccuracy of mine:

The strongest computer out there is probably not Blue Gene after all but Google's computer: with about 1 million CPUs, each with approximately 8 gigs of RAM, making an order 10^16 bytes which is far more than the 10^13 + of Blue Gene and roughly the same as a human brain. Google has similarly more CPU power -- also comparable to a human.

Still as you can see in his fascinating article:

It's obviously not all about the hardware!

Hi Seth,
Thanks for your comment!
I tend to disagree: for the "prior to" relation, we extracted the exact dates, namely: from July 1999 to December 2000.
Note that the relative temporality can be later resolved when we construct a time-line.
As for other text formats:
Generally speaking, our results are just as good on both semi-structured and "unclean" texts. This is due to the synergistic effect of our NER component with semantic rules, which are both flexible, and can therefore "tolerate" spelling mistakes, odd grammar, etc.
The specific output scheme presented is one of several we employ for insertion into relevant databases, which we use to create profiles of both companies and position holders.
Also, I'll be glad to answer any challenges you may have for PPC and/or Education rulebooks!
Best :-)

Impressive, although I do see relations you didn't get so recall isn't 100%. For instance, the temporal relationship of the "Previously" and subsequent "Prior to that" jobs isn't captured.

What are results like when you're not running on clean text?

I'm also curious about the choice of output schema and what's done with the results, with the extracted information.
